Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
Lando Norris has beaten Oscar Piastri at all of the previous five race weekends.
The McLaren driver narrowly beat fellow driver and championship contender the Australian for the fastest time in the closing stages of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris, who seized the championship lead from his teammate by just one point after winning in Mexico City two weeks ago, topped the Melbourne-born driver by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Before then, Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver during the running before sprint qualifying scheduled for the evening session.
The Red Bull star, the only other driver in the points battle, trailing with a 36-point deficit behind Norris, ended up in 17th position as his team ran a different programme.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to have an incident, if briefly, when he lost control at the fourth corner early in the session.
The Japanese lost control over the curbs on exit before rotating through the run-off area, and was fortunate to avoid just a light touch of the fence.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the very end of the practice, turning around through the high-speed Mergulho turn approaching the final corner on to the main straight.
Hamilton finished practice in 19th, just behind teammate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren pair were well clear of the rest of the field, with the German's Sauber P3, 0.619secs slower than the Australian's time.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was fourth quickest, with the Sauber of Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' George Russell and Alpine's Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
